Patients seem to tell me all the time that they are "allergic" to aspirin.
When I ask them what happens they say I get a terrible upset stomach or it will make my bleeding ulcer worst. Ewww. The latter of the two is correct, but it is still not considered a true allergy. Aspirin is an irreversible platelet (the stuff that makes you clot and stop bleeding) inhibitor so if you have a bleeding ulcer it will make your stomach bleed more. Having your GI upset with aspirin is probably one of the most common side effects that occurs, but now you don't have to live with it. Using the No Mo Nausea Band when your tummy starts to rumble could be your next step to stability in and out of your body.
