Low Grade Fever Versus High Baby Fever Temp

What is a considered a fever?

Fevers are an increase in bodily temperature, which are typically signs of some sort of
infection. Raising the body's temperature, although maybe uncomfortable for you, is actually one of the body's innate ways to combat infections. Although the thought of an infection has negative connotations, they are not usually a cause for concern. Children general tend to get higher fevers than adults due to the fact that their temperature regulating system is not fully developed.  Have you ever noticed that children, especially babies, do not sweat as much as adults. The degree of the fever also does not indicate the severity of illness your child has.

Fever Symptoms

Typical fever symptoms may include:

  • Sweating
  • Chills and/or Shivering
  • Head and Muscle Aches
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Nausea
  • Dehydration

Baby Fever, Toddler Fever and Fever in Adults

Fevers are usually are good indicator of your body fighting off an infection and typically don't require a visit to the doctor's or hospital treatment. These kinds of fevers are known as low grade fevers. However, when the body's temperature becomes too high, it can cause damage to the body instead of helping it fight the infection.

For babies, if they have a temperature greater than 102 degrees Fahrenheit you should probably call your doctor and schedule an appointment. Similarly for toddlers, if they have a temperature greater than 102 degrees Fahrenheit that lasts longer than a day or your toddler has severe discomfort, you should call your doctor. However, for adults, you will likely not have to call a doctor unless your fever is above 103 degrees Fahrenheit.

How to Reduce Fever Symptoms

Headaches, vomiting, dehydration and nausea are just some of the major symptoms associated with high fevers. One great method for reducing these cold & flu upset stomach symptoms is by wearing a NoMo Nausea band.

NoMo Nausea bands are a latex-free elastic wristband that fits snugly around the wrist and combines the effective technology of aromatherapy and acupressure to help relieve the discomfort of fevers. First, the peppermint scent of the band opens up airways allowing your child, or you, to breathe easier. It additionally acts as a distraction from the fever symptoms you're experiencing. The scent of peppermint is known for its antiemetic qualities, relieving nausea and stomachaches rapidly. Second, the acupressure at the P6 point on your wrist helps inhibit nausea receptors in the brain, again working to stop those uncomfortable feelings of nausea.

No one, whether baby or adult, likes to take bad-tasting fever reducers or are in the mood to take medicine to help relieve their aches, pains, and upset tummies. Thankfully, the NoMo Nausea Band is the perfect alternative to those gross medications. All you have to do is wear it, or have your child wear it! They can easily be found online at www.nomonausea.com or Amazon and your local CVS even carries NoMo Nausea Bands For Kids, or for you moms pick one up from BuyBuy Baby or Babies R Us which are perfectly sized for your child (and you even have plenty of colors to choose from!).
